How the coast works

The Riviera runs on a calendar, and so does the booking

From March to October the coast is one long event season. Cannes hosts MIPIM in March, the Film Festival in May, the Lions in June, the Yachting Festival in September and MIPCOM in October. Monaco has the Grand Prix in May and the Yacht Show in September, with gala dinners all year in between. Nice fills with congresses and incentive groups; Saint-Tropez and the Caps with summer house parties. Each of these weeks brings brands, agencies, charter companies and private hosts who need a performance that stands out, in a place where guests have seen every kind of entertainment.

That is the brief this act was written for. Mentalism works on an international table where a comedy routine would not: a thought read across a dinner table in Monaco lands the same way whether the guest thinks in English, Italian, Russian or Arabic. The AI act gives a brand event a talking point of its own: a working artificial intelligence taking part in the mentalism. And the whole thing travels light: no stage, no rigging, a set-up that fits in cabin luggage and works in a saloon, on an aft deck or in a garden.

Lyon to Nice is a one-hour flight with several departures a day. Travel is included in the proposal, the technical rider arrives in advance, and Hugo arrives with time to walk the room. Agencies and concierges get one contact, one invoice and no surprises.

What the luxury brief looks like

The standard the Riviera expects

Luxury maison · boutique evening, Geneva

Close-up for the top clients, then one moment nobody forgets

A watch and writing-instrument maison asked for intimacy first: an hour of close-up among their best clients inside the boutique. For the finale, Hugo levitated one of the partners in the middle of the circle, in full light, no staging. The photograph circulated for days. The same standard, intimacy then one chiselled finale, is what a Riviera gala or a night on board gets.

References agencies can check

Hugo has performed for Montblanc, IBM, Mercedes, Bouygues, Crédit Agricole and Paul Bocuse, among others, for galas, seminars and private performances in France and Switzerland, in French and English. Riviera event names are shared during the enquiry, never published: on this coast, the guest list is often the most confidential part of the event.

What you can book on the coast

Four formats for four kinds of event

Close-up magic on board and at home

Strolling magic and mentalism in the saloon, on deck or between courses at a private dinner. No stage, no sound, no set-up. One magician covers around 250 guests at a reception and 120 at a seated dinner; for a large gala Hugo brings fellow magicians.

Corporate entertainment

The gala magic show

Thirty to forty-five minutes of mentalism in the ballroom of a palace hotel or under the stars in a garden: sealed predictions, thoughts read across the room, a levitation when the venue allows it. Placed before the speeches or as the closing moment.

The mentalism show

The AI keynote for congresses

Forty-five to sixty minutes for the conventions that fill Cannes and Nice: a working artificial intelligence on stage with a mentalist. For tech, media and finance audiences who have sat through enough slides about AI and would like to see one think.

The AI keynote

Stand and brand activations

MIPIM, the Lions, MIPCOM: an iPad magic act that draws a crowd to a stand and puts the brand inside the illusion, in English, for the delegates who walk past forty stands an hour.

Trade show magician

From the Principality to the peninsula

Where Hugo performs on the French Riviera

Monaco and Monte-Carlo

Gala dinners in the grand hotels, brand events during the Grand Prix and the Yacht Show, dinners on board at Port Hercule, private performances in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. The most international audience on the coast, and the one where discretion matters most.

Cannes

The congress calendar: MIPIM, the Film Festival, the Lions, the Yachting Festival, MIPCOM. Studio and agency parties on the Croisette, yacht receptions in the Vieux-Port, stand activations at the Palais. The weeks that book earliest in the year.

Nice and the Caps

Incentive groups and conventions, corporate entertainment in the hotels of Cap d'Antibes, private dinners in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Villefranche. The airport is the arrival point for the whole coast: one hour from Lyon, several flights a day.

Saint-Tropez and the peninsula

Summer house parties, birthday dinners and nights on board from June to September, usually booked through property managers, personal assistants and charter companies. Small groups, high expectations, and magic that needs nothing but a table and attention.

Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and the rest of Provence are covered the same way. If the event is in the south of France, it is within reach.

Who books a mentalist on the Riviera

The people who usually write first

  • Brands and their agencies during the congress weeks. A Cannes or Monaco event that has to be talked about the next morning, with the brand woven into the performance rather than printed on a banner.
  • Charter managers and captains. An hour of close-up magic for ten guests in the saloon, or a short mentalism moment after dinner on deck. No equipment, no noise, nothing that interferes with service.
  • Hotel concierges and event teams. Gala entertainment that matches a palace ballroom and works for a room where six languages are spoken.
  • Property managers and personal assistants. Birthday and anniversary dinners in Cap-Ferrat or Saint-Tropez, booked with a name and a date and nothing else published.
  • DMCs and incentive organisers. Groups flown in for three days, with a dinner that needs a magician who can hold an international room in English.

Tailor-made for your Riviera event

How a booking works

  1. You send the brief. Venue or vessel, date or period, number of guests, the format you have in mind, or "not sure yet".
  2. A short call, in English or French. Within one business day, to understand the setting, the guests and what the event has to achieve.
  3. A tailored proposal. Format, running order, technical needs if any, travel from Lyon included, and a fee for that event. No price list.
  4. The act is written for your guests. The brand, the languages at the table, the inside references you share. Rehearsed, then performed.

Fees on request. Every engagement is tailored to the format, the audience, the venue and the travel involved.

Before you enquire

Questions Riviera clients ask first

Do you perform in English on the French Riviera?

Yes. Every format is performed in English or French, and mixed rooms are handled without losing anyone. Riviera audiences are international by nature; mentalism works on thoughts, not on punchlines, so Italian, Russian or Arabic-speaking guests follow the act as well as everyone else.

Can you perform on a yacht or in a private house?

Yes, and often. Close-up and mentalism need no stage, no power and no set-up: they are played in the saloon, on the aft deck or around the dinner table. The AI act travels in cabin luggage and needs only a screen and a 4G or 5G signal. Client names are never published.

How much does a magician cost on the French Riviera?

Fees are quoted on request and tailored to the format, the duration, the number of guests, the venue and the travel from Lyon, which is included. Send the details of your event and you will receive a proposal within one business day.

Are you available during the Cannes Film Festival, the Lions and the Monaco Yacht Show?

Those weeks are booked earliest, often months ahead by brands, agencies and charter companies. Enquire as soon as your dates are known; a short-notice slot is always worth asking about, since the calendar moves.

How do you get to the Riviera, and is travel included?

One flight from Lyon to Nice, several times a day, then road to Monaco, Cannes, Antibes or Saint-Tropez. Travel and accommodation when needed are included in the proposal, so the figure you receive is the figure you pay.

What is different about this act compared with other Riviera magicians?

Three things: the act is mentalism first, which suits adult international audiences better than visual tricks; a working artificial intelligence can take part in the performance; and the work is corporate-grade, with 178 verified Google reviews, a technical rider and invoicing that agencies can rely on.
