Why planners rebook

An event planner does not need another entertainer with a showreel; they need a supplier who answers the same day, sends a rider that fits on one page, arrives before the client does and makes the planner look good in the debrief. Hugo Marceau has worked with agencies, DMCs and in-house event teams since 2010, in French and English, for companies such as Montblanc, IBM, Mercedes, Bouygues, Crédit Agricole and Paul Bocuse. This page is the brief he would send you if you asked.

What to put in the proposal

Formats, running times and what each one needs

FormatRunning timeGuestsTechnical needsWhere it sits in the evening
Close-up and strolling mentalism 1 to 3 hours, in sets Up to ~250 standing or ~120 seated per performer; additional magicians for larger rooms None. No stage, no sound, no set-up, no power. Cocktail reception, between courses, hospitality suite, on board
Mentalism stage show 30 to 45 minutes From a boardroom of forty to a plenary of several hundred, seated Sound system with headset microphone; playing area ~3 m × 2 m; house lighting Before the speeches, between main course and dessert, or as the closing act. See gala dinners.
AI keynote 45 to 60 minutes Conference and plenary rooms, any size As above, plus screen or projector (HDMI) and a stable internet connection Opening or closing session, leadership meeting, client conference. See conferences.
Trade show and stand activation Half or full days Continuous flow of visitors A stand with a little floor space; the iPad act brings its own screen Exhibition hours, product demonstrations, lead capture

Combinations are common: the keynote in the afternoon and strolling mentalism at the dinner, or a short stage moment that closes a cocktail hour of close-up. Running order advice comes with the proposal.

Logistics

The practical answers, before you ask

Languages

English and French, separately or in one room. Mixed audiences are the norm, not the exception: mentalism works on thoughts, not on wordplay, so guests speaking a third language follow the act.

Travel

Based in Lyon: Geneva in an hour by road, Paris in two by train, Nice in one by air. Travel and accommodation are organised by Hugo's team and included in the proposal, in France, Switzerland and abroad. See performing worldwide.

Arrival and set-up

For close-up, Hugo arrives before the first guest and starts when you say. For the stage show and the keynote, he arrives well ahead of doors for a sound check and a walk of the room, and asks for a single contact on site.

Customisation

Send the brand guidelines, the product, the theme of the evening, the names worth knowing. Effects are written around them, agreed in advance and rehearsed. Confidential material is handled under NDA.

Invoicing and paperwork

Invoiced by Hugo's production company, in euros or in Swiss francs for Swiss clients, one all-inclusive figure. Supplier documents are provided on request. Agency terms available.

Discretion

No client name, photograph or event detail is published without written consent. Tell your photographer when the moment comes if the client wants it captured; otherwise nothing leaves the room.

Material for your proposal

Press kit, video and a bio to paste

Most of what you need is on this page and the two linked below. Everything else comes by return email: high-resolution photographs, the logo, a longer biography and a full-length performance video.

  • Trailer. Close-up, stage and the AI act in a short cut, on the home page.
  • Performance video. An excerpt of the AI keynote is embedded on the AI magician page; longer cuts on request.
  • Photographs. Portraits and performance photographs in print resolution, with usage rights for your proposal and the event communication.
  • Reviews. 178 verified Google reviews, rated 5.0, which your client can read without asking you.

Short biography · 80 words

Hugo Marceau is a French mentalist and AI magician based in Lyon, performing in English and French for corporate events, galas and private celebrations across France, Switzerland and internationally. A professional since 2010, he gives more than two hundred performances a year and is rated 5.0 on 178 Google reviews. His formats range from close-up mentalism among the guests to a stage show and a keynote in which a working artificial intelligence reads the audience alongside him.

From two hundred evenings a year

Five things that make a mentalist land in a corporate programme

  • Place the stage moment before the speeches, not after. A room that has just watched a prediction come true listens to the CEO. A room that has sat through forty minutes of slides does not watch anything.
  • Let close-up start with the first drink. Strolling mentalism is the fastest way to turn two hundred people who do not know each other into tables that talk. It also fills the gap while the late guests arrive.
  • Give the performer the inside references. Who is the boss, what was launched this year, which running joke the whole company knows. Ten minutes of briefing is worth more than any special effect.
  • Keep the sound simple. A headset microphone and a working PA are all the stage show needs. Elaborate lighting cues add rehearsal time and rarely add anything the audience notices.
  • Plan the photograph. The levitation, the sealed prediction being opened, the guest who cannot believe what just happened: tell the photographer when it comes, and the event has its picture.

Check a date

How a booking works with an agency

  1. You send the date and the brief. Even a rough one: city, venue, headcount, the format you are thinking of, the client's sector. We answer on availability the same day.
  2. You receive a proposal to forward. Written so it can go to your client as it is or inside your own document: format, running order, rider, travel included, one figure.
  3. Your option is noted. If another enquiry arrives for the same evening, you hear about it first. The date is confirmed when the proposal is signed.
  4. One contact until the last guest leaves. Your producer and Hugo, directly, from the first call to the debrief.

Fees on request. Every engagement is tailored to the format, the audience, the venue and the travel involved. Agency terms available.

Prefer to talk first? +33 6 88 61 29 00, WhatsApp welcome, English and French.

Availability the same day; full proposal within one business day.

Before you send the brief

Questions agencies ask first

Can you hold a date for us while the client decides?

Yes. Tell us the date and we will note your option and let you know if another enquiry comes in for the same evening. A date is confirmed only once the proposal is signed, so the earlier the client decides, the safer the slot.

Do you work with agencies on a white-label basis?

Yes. Many bookings come through event agencies, DMCs and production companies. The client relationship stays yours: Hugo deals with your team, follows your brief and your brand guidelines, and agency terms are available on request.

Can we see Hugo perform before we book?

The quickest way is the trailer and the performance videos on this site. For a large engagement, a video call to walk through the running order is standard, and when the calendar allows it, an invitation to see a public performance can be arranged.

What are the technical requirements?

Close-up and strolling mentalism need nothing: no stage, no sound, no set-up. The stage show needs a sound system with a headset microphone and a playing area of about three metres by two. The AI keynote adds a screen or projector with an HDMI input and a stable internet connection. A one-page rider is sent with every proposal.

How is the engagement invoiced?

Through Hugo's production company, in euros for most clients and in Swiss francs for Swiss clients. The proposal states one all-inclusive figure: fee, travel and accommodation where needed. Supplier documents are provided on request.

Can the performance include our client's brand or product?

Yes, and it usually should. Hugo writes effects around the product being launched, the company's story, the inside references the organiser shares. Content is agreed in advance, rehearsed, and can be reviewed by the client under NDA when the material is confidential.
