In one paragraph

Hugo Marceau is a mentalist and AI magician based in Lyon, France, under two hours from Geneva by road and an hour from Nice and Paris by air. He performs in English and French for companies, agencies, luxury brands and private hosts: interactive magic and mentalism among the guests at a corporate event, a mentalism show on stage, or a conference talk in which a working artificial intelligence reads the room alongside him. More than two hundred performances a year in France and Switzerland, and further afield whenever the invitation calls for it. Fees on request; every engagement is tailor-made.

Why this act travels

A mentalist is the entertainer who needs the least and crosses borders the best

Most corporate event entertainment struggles abroad. A comedian loses half the room to language; a band needs a stage, a crew and a truck; a big illusion ships in crates. Mentalism needs none of that. The act lives in the heads of the guests: a thought read across a dinner table in Geneva lands the same way in London, Milan or Dubai, whatever language the guest thinks in. Everything Hugo performs with fits in cabin luggage, which is why the proposal for an event abroad reads like the proposal for one in Lyon, plus a flight.

The second reason is the content. For an international company, an evening of generic entertainment is forgettable; an evening that speaks about the company is memorable. Hugo writes the performance around the room: the brand, the product being launched, the inside references the organiser shares, the languages at the table. For technology, finance and media audiences there is the AI act, in which a real artificial intelligence takes part in the mentalism, something very few performers anywhere can offer.

The third reason is practical. Hugo's team handles the logistics that make corporate event planners nervous about hiring a performer from another country: travel booked and included in the figure, a technical rider sent in advance, arrival with time to walk the venue, one contact and one invoice. The organiser gets a performer who has done this two hundred times a year, not a tour to manage.

Where the work happens

The French Riviera

Monaco, Cannes, Nice, Antibes and Saint-Tropez: corporate dinners in the palace hotels, receptions on board during the congress weeks and the Yacht Show, summer parties in the villas of the Caps. One flight from Lyon, several a day.

Geneva and Switzerland

Banks, watchmakers, international organisations and the companies around Lake Geneva, from Geneva to Lausanne and Montreux; Zurich, Basel and the Alpine resorts on request. Proposals for Swiss clients are issued in CHF.

Paris and Lyon

Paris for conventions, product launches and the evenings that follow them, two hours from Lyon by train. Lyon is home: the second business city in France and the gateway to the Alps, with Courchevel, Megève and Chamonix within reach for the winter season.

Europe and beyond, on request

London, Brussels, Luxembourg, Milan and Barcelona are a short flight from Lyon; the Middle East, North America and Asia a long one. Wherever the event is, the act arrives the same way: one performer, one bag, a rider sent in advance, and travel days written into the proposal.

What you can book

Three formats of corporate entertainment, each of which travels

Strolling magic and mentalism

Among the guests at a cocktail reception, between courses at a dinner, in a hospitality suite. No stage, no sound, no set-up: one performer covers around 250 guests standing or 120 seated, and brings fellow magicians for a larger room. Companies that hire a mentalist for corporate events abroad usually book that way: one international magician, one brief, one invoice. The format that works on a yacht, in a boardroom or in a ballroom.

Corporate entertainment

The mentalism show

Thirty to forty-five minutes of interactive mentalism on stage for an awards night, a company celebration or the last evening of a conference: sealed predictions, thoughts read from the room, a levitation when the venue allows it. Needs a sound system with a headset microphone and a playing area of three metres by two. The rest comes in the bag.

The mentalism show

The AI keynote

Forty-five to sixty minutes for a conference or a leadership meeting: a magician mentalist and a working artificial intelligence on stage together, reading the audience, predicting its choices and explaining what that says about attention, bias and trust. Needs a screen or projector and a stable internet connection.

Who hires an international mentalist

The people who usually write first

  • International companies holding an event in France or Switzerland. A head office in London, New York or Singapore, a corporate event in Geneva or on the Riviera, and a brief that says "entertainment that works in English for a room of twelve nationalities".
  • Event agencies and DMCs bringing groups to Europe. Incentive trips, leadership retreats, client hospitality in the Alps or on the coast, where the dinner needs one act that the whole group will talk about on the flight home.
  • Luxury brands with a European calendar. Boutique evenings, product launches and client dinners from Paris to Monaco, in which the brand is woven into the performance rather than printed on a banner. Hugo has performed for Montblanc, IBM, Mercedes, Bouygues, Crédit Agricole and Paul Bocuse, among others.
  • Conference producers looking for an AI talk with a difference. Technology, finance and media audiences that have seen enough slides about artificial intelligence and would like to see one think.
  • Private hosts and their assistants. A birthday in a villa, an anniversary dinner, a family celebration at a chalet: a name, a date, and nothing else published.

Tailor-made for your next event

How an international booking works

  1. You send the brief. Country and city, venue, date or period, number of guests, the format you have in mind, or "not sure yet".
  2. A short call, in English or French. Within one business day, in your time zone, to understand the setting, the audience and what the evening has to achieve.
  3. A tailored proposal. Format, running order, technical rider, travel and accommodation included, and a fee for that event. In euros, or in CHF for Swiss clients.
  4. The act is written for your guests. The brand, the languages in the room, the inside references you share. Rehearsed, then performed. Hugo arrives with time to walk the venue.

Fees on request. Every engagement is tailored to the format, the audience, the venue and the travel involved.

Before you enquire

Questions international clients ask first

How much does it cost to hire a mentalist?

Fees are quoted on request. Every proposal is built for one event: the format, the running time, the number of guests, the venue and the travel involved. There is no price list on this site, because a twenty-minute strolling set at a corporate event in Geneva and a sixty-minute AI talk on another continent are not the same engagement. Send the brief and you will receive a tailored proposal within one business day, travel included.

What does a mentalist actually do at an event?

A mentalist performs the illusion of reading thoughts and predicting choices: a guest thinks of a word, a name or a memory, and it is revealed without a question being asked; a prediction sealed before the evening matches decisions made during it. At a corporate event this is played among the attendees, as a stage show, or as a talk where the techniques are explained. The reactions are the point: it is the one unforgettable act everyone discusses the next morning.

Is mentalism real?

Mentalism is a performing art. Hugo Marceau does not claim supernatural powers: the effects are built from psychology, suggestion, observation and technique, rehearsed for years. That honesty is what makes the act work in a corporate room, where the audience is intelligent and sceptical by profession.

Do you perform outside France?

Yes. Hugo is based in Lyon and performs every week across France and Switzerland; the French Riviera, Geneva, Paris and the Alpine resorts are home ground. Beyond that, he travels wherever the event is, on request: travel days, accommodation and local logistics are organised by his team and written into the proposal.

Which languages do you perform in?

English and French, separately or in the same room. The act was built for international audiences: mentalism works on thoughts, not on wordplay, so guests who speak a third language at the table follow it as well as everyone else.

How far in advance should an international booking be made?

For an event abroad, four to eight weeks gives time for travel, the customised content and any venue requirements. Peak weeks on the Riviera and in the Swiss resorts are booked months ahead. A short-notice request is always worth sending: the calendar moves, and an answer comes the same day.
