In one paragraph

Hugo Marceau is a French mentalist and AI magician based in Lyon, an hour's drive from Geneva. He performs every month around Lake Geneva for banks, watchmakers, international organisations and the families who entertain on its shores, in English and in French: close-up magic at the reception, a mentalism show before the speeches, or the AI keynote for a convention. Zurich, Basel, Bern and the Alpine resorts are a short journey further, organised by his team. Proposals are issued in Swiss francs. Fees on request.

The Swiss room

Switzerland asks something specific of a magician

A corporate evening in Geneva or Zurich rarely has one language in the room. There are the Swiss hosts, the colleagues flown in from London, Singapore or New York, the clients who speak German at home and English at work. An act that depends on a punchline in one language loses a third of the table. Mentalism does not have that problem: a thought is a thought in any language, and the moment a guest's unspoken word appears on a card is understood by everyone at once.

The second thing Swiss rooms ask for is restraint. Banks, watchmakers and international organisations entertain people who have seen a great deal of magic and a great many shows, and who notice when something is loud. The work here is quiet, precise and close to the guests, with the big moment arriving when the room is ready for it, not before.

The third is reliability. Travel organised, technical rider sent in advance, arrival with time to spare for the event team, invoices in Swiss francs that match the proposal. Switzerland is a morning's drive from home, and a magician in Switzerland who arrives by road brings the whole act with him, and Hugo has been crossing that border for events long enough to treat it as local.

Two evenings, as they happened

What the experience looks like in a Swiss room

Fairmont Le Montreux Palace · Montreux

A corporate evening for an aerospace group

A large part of the audience had flown in from India. The evening was played entirely in English, between the lake-facing terrace and the ballroom. The moment the room still talks about: a ring borrowed from a guest, left on the table, which rose and floated in front of everyone before returning to her finger.

Bank · Geneva

A staff evening that needed one shared memory

Close-up during the reception, then a short stage moment before the speeches. The finale was a colleague from the audience, chosen by the room, who was made to levitate in front of her own team. Everyone there, from every department, shared the same experience at the same moment, which was the point of the evening.

What you can book in Switzerland

Three formats, combined or on their own

Close-up magic for receptions

Strolling from group to group during the apéritif or between courses, in English and French. One magician reaches around 250 guests at a standing reception, 120 at a seated dinner; for larger galas Hugo brings fellow performers so no table is missed. The format that makes a networking hour actually work.

Corporate event entertainment

The mentalism show

A thirty to forty-five minute magic show that brings the whole room to the same place: predictions sealed before the evening, thoughts read across the ballroom, and a levitation when the venue allows it. Usually placed before the speeches, when attention is highest, or as the closing moment of a gala.

The mentalism show

The AI keynote

Forty-five to sixty minutes for leadership teams and conventions, where a working artificial intelligence shares the stage with the mentalist. Geneva's international organisations and Zurich's financial and tech companies are exactly the audiences this was written for. Often booked for the day, with close-up at the dinner that follows.

Across the country

Where Hugo performs in Switzerland

Geneva

Home ground. Banks, watch and jewellery houses, international organisations and their delegations, receptions in the lakeside hotels and the properties of Cologny and Versoix. An hour from Lyon, which means a same-day arrival with time to rehearse in the room.

Lausanne and the Vaud Riviera

Lausanne for institutional galas and corporate dinners, Montreux for the congress season at the 2m2c and the palace hotels on the lake, Vevey and Nyon for family receptions. The Fairmont evening above was one of these.

Zurich, Basel and Bern

German-speaking Switzerland is where English matters most: the corporate rooms are the most international in the country. Zurich's banks and tech companies, Basel's pharmaceutical and art calendars, Bern's institutions. Covered on request, with travel organised by Hugo's team and the act performed in English.

The Alpine resorts and Davos

Verbier, Gstaad, Crans-Montana and St. Moritz for chalet celebrations and brand events in season, where a close-up magician at the apéritif or a short show after dinner suits the setting. Davos during the January week, for the delegation dinners and partner evenings that fill the town around the forum. Winter dates are booked early; ask before November.

Fribourg, Neuchâtel, the Valais and Lugano are covered the same way. If your venue is in Switzerland, it is within reach.

Who books a mentalist in Switzerland

The evenings this is built for

  • Corporate dinners and year-end parties. The December calendar of Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich, where a stage moment before dessert turns a company dinner into the evening people mention in January.
  • Client and partner events. Wealth management receptions, watch and jewellery presentations, brand evenings where the entertainment has to match the setting and never upstage the host.
  • Conferences and conventions. International organisations and multinationals meeting in Geneva, Montreux or Zurich, with the AI keynote in the programme and close-up at the networking reception.
  • Family celebrations. Birthdays, anniversaries and dinners in lakeside properties and mountain chalets, where discretion is part of the brief and the magic stays close to the table.
  • Agencies and DMCs. Event agencies placing an English-speaking magician for an incoming group. Technical rider, timings and invoicing in CHF are handled directly with the agency.

Tailor-made for your Swiss event

How a booking works

  1. You send the brief. City, venue if known, date or period, number of guests, the format you have in mind, or "not sure yet".
  2. A short call, in English or French. Within one business day, to understand the room, the audience and what the evening has to achieve.
  3. A proposal in Swiss francs. Format, running order, technical needs, travel from Lyon included, and a fee for that event. No price list.
  4. The act is written for your guests. Your sector, your languages, your inside references if you share them. Rehearsed, then performed.

Fees on request. Every engagement is tailored to the format, the audience, the venue and the travel involved.

Before you enquire

Questions Swiss clients ask first

Do you perform in English in Switzerland?

Yes. Every format is performed in English or French, and mixed rooms are handled without losing anyone. Most Swiss corporate audiences are international, and the act was built for exactly that.

Which parts of Switzerland do you cover?

Lake Geneva is home ground: Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Vevey, Nyon and the Vaud Riviera, plus Fribourg, Neuchâtel and the Valais. Zurich, Basel, Bern, Lucerne, Lugano and the Alpine resorts are covered on request, with the same team organising travel.

How much does a magician cost in Switzerland?

Fees are quoted on request, in Swiss francs, and tailored to the format (close-up magic, show or keynote), the duration, the number of guests, the venue and the travel involved. Send the details of your event and you will receive a proposal within one business day.

Do you quote in CHF?

Yes. Proposals for Swiss clients are issued in Swiss francs, with travel from Lyon included, so the figure you receive is the figure you pay.

How many guests can one magician cover?

Around 120 guests at a seated dinner and around 250 at a standing reception. For larger galas Hugo brings fellow performers so every table is reached. A stage show covers the whole room at once.

How far in advance should a Swiss event be booked?

Four to eight weeks allows a fully tailored act. December, the January week in Davos and the spring congress season fill first; a short-notice date is always worth asking about.
