Experiential marketing examples where
the brand is inside the effect

Most experiential marketing examples online are campaigns built by agencies with trucks, budgets and a city block. This page is the other scale: one performer, a product, an iPad and a room, and the brand written into the magic itself. Real activations by Hugo Marceau, magician and mentalist, and brand activation ideas by objective.

In one paragraph

Experiential marketing is the one lever that does not broadcast a message but makes people live it. A reveal, a stand, a showroom, a pop-up, a client evening: instead of an advertisement received at a distance, the audience takes part in a moment it will associate with the brand for years. Its strength is immersion, and its weakness is that most of what marketers are sold under that name is décor: a branded wall, a queue, a photo, an experience nobody takes part in. Magic does the opposite. For three minutes a guest stops being an audience and becomes the person something impossible happens to, and when the impossible thing is about your product, your product is what gets retold.

Four experiential marketing examples, as they happened

What a brand activation with a magician looks like in practice

Selux · showroom tour · 2022

One performer, several showrooms, one thread

Selux, the German manufacturer of architectural lighting, entrusted Hugo with the tour of its French showrooms, starting in Paris. The format was close-up for the guests of each venue: the same effects, the same performer and the same tone from one city to the next, so that a product tour became one story rather than a series of openings.

Guhring · Global Industrie 2025 · Eurexpo Lyon

Stop the aisle, hand over by first name

In front of hurried engineers and buyers, Hugo worked the Guhring stand in strolling close-up, paired with one of their sales people: stop the passers-by, form the cluster, open the conversation, hand the visitor over. Guhring France's marketing team left a Google review afterwards. The method is detailed on the trade show magician page.

Renault Pro · Lyon Motor Show · Eurexpo

A full day on the stand, then the client evening

Close-up on the Renault Pro stand for the whole day of the show, then a private evening for their clients at closing time. One performer across the public day and the private night is the format large exhibitors tend to choose: the visitors met in the aisle recognise him at the dinner, and the conversation picks up where it stopped.

Ouidoo · Pavillon des Princes · Paris

A bespoke act written around the company

For Ouidoo's evening at the Pavillon des Princes in Paris, the act was written around the company itself, its name and its message inside the effects, so that the guests were not watching a magician who happened to be there but a piece made for the room. That is the difference between entertainment at an event and a brand experience created for it.

Brand activation ideas, by objective

Six ways to put a brand inside the magic

Product launch

The new model is seen on the screen first, then leaves it and lands in a journalist's hand. Prepared under NDA with the real thing, and never with a feature it does not have. The tech magician page covers the format in detail.

Trade show stand

Stop the aisle with a thirty-second effect, hold the group with your logo inside the branded iPad routine, introduce each visitor by first name to your sales team. Measured in qualified contacts, not footfall.

Showroom, dealership or pop-up tour

One performer across several sites turns a series of openings into one experiential campaign. Guests who come for the cars or the collection stay for the moment; the queue at a pop-up becomes an audience instead of a wait.

Client evening

A prediction written before the dinner and opened at the end reveals the figure of the year, the name of the new range or the sentence the chief executive wanted remembered. The announcement becomes a revelation. See gala dinner entertainment.

Conference or convention

The AI keynote in the plenary, close-up at the networking break, a show at the dinner, by the same performer. The theme of the event runs through all three; see conference entertainment.

Internal launch or kick-off

A new organisation, a new target, a new name: the message is woven into the moments of the day by a corporate event host who is also a mentalist, so that the figure the board chose is the one the room sees revealed at the close.

What an experiential campaign is for

The objectives marketers set, and what magic does for each

Every experiential marketing strategy answers to the same handful of objectives, whether the campaign is a branded truck touring the country or one performer in a showroom. Here is how a live, interactive experience built around the brand serves each of them.

Brand awareness

An immersive experience is remembered where an advert is skipped. The target audience does not read about the brand; it holds the product while something impossible happens to it. Awareness built that way is awareness with a story attached.

Engagement

Experiential marketing is measured in minutes of attention, not impressions. A guest who takes part in a three-minute effect has given the brand more undivided engagement than any digital campaign buys, and has done it willingly.

Emotional connection and loyalty

Loyalty is the memory of a good experience. Customers who were the subject of the magic, rather than spectators of it, connect the emotion to the brand that created it, and that connection is what brings them back.

Social media reach

Memorable moments get filmed. A phone that changed in a guest's own hand, with the product on the screen, is shared by the guest, not by the brand, which is the only kind of social media content consumers trust.

Leads and sales conversations

On a stand or at a client evening, the experience is the opening of a conversation that a salesperson finishes. Qualified contacts handed over by first name are the figure that justifies the campaign to the finance director.

Creative value for the money

A creative experiential campaign does not have to be the most expensive one. The value lies in how different the moment is from everything else the audience saw that week, and a performer with an iPad can create that difference with nothing to build.

What the famous campaigns teach

And what they leave out

  • The moment beats the message. The experiential marketing campaigns that get cited, the pop-up lounges, the branded trucks, the stunts filmed from a helicopter, all share one thing: people lived an experience, then told it. That part scales down to one room without losing anything.
  • Logistics is most of the budget. A truck, a build, permits, staff, a content team. A performer with an iPad needs none of it, which is why a showroom or a client dinner can become an activation with nothing to build.
  • The photo is not the memory. A selfie wall produces images; it rarely produces a sentence. A guest whose own phone changed in his hand, with your product on the screen, has a sentence, and says it for weeks.
  • Participation is the multiplier. Watching a brand do something is pleasant. Being the person the impossible thing happened to is what people remember, which is why mentalism, which is built on the guest, outperforms décor.

Measuring the activation

Figures on the day, stories afterwards

An experiential campaign is run like an investment. On the day: attendance against invitations, dwell time at the stand or the showroom, contacts recorded by badge scan or QR code, visitors handed to the sales team by name. In the weeks after: the leads that become meetings, the message delegates can repeat a month later, the photos and posts guests made without being asked. Over the year: the clients who came back, the perception of the brand among the people who were in the room.

The share of the budget spent on the live moment is usually read as a cost. It is the part that drives attention and memory, and therefore the return on everything else that was paid for: the venue, the build, the travel. The page on corporate entertainment ideas ranks the usual options by what guests actually remember.

Where

France, Switzerland, and the campaign you are planning

Hugo is based in Lyon and spends most of his year between Paris, Geneva and Switzerland and the French Riviera, where the luxury, technology and finance industries hold their product launches and client evenings. Campaigns elsewhere in Europe are covered on request, with everything in cabin luggage. Agencies will find formats, technical needs and logistics on the page for event planners; the full range is on the corporate event entertainment page.

Tailor-made for your brand

How a booking works

  1. You send the brief. The brand, the product or message, the format (reveal, stand, showroom, evening), the dates and the audience.
  2. A short call within one business day, to decide where the brand goes inside the effect and which format carries it best.
  3. A tailored proposal. Format, number of days, customisation, travel included, one all-inclusive figure.
  4. The effects are built with your assets under NDA where needed, rehearsed, and Hugo arrives ahead of doors on the day.

Fees on request. Every proposal is tailored to the format, the number of days, the customisation and the travel involved.

Before you enquire

Questions people ask about experiential marketing with a magician

What is experiential marketing, in one sentence?

Experiential marketing creates or uses a live moment, a product launch, a stand, a pop-up, a client evening, so that people experience a brand rather than receive a message about it. An advertisement is seen; an experience is lived, retold and associated with the brand for a long time.

How can magic carry a brand message?

By putting the message inside the effect rather than next to it. The product leaves the iPad screen and lands in a guest's hand; the prediction written before the evening reveals the figure of the year; the card a buyer merely thought of carries the name of the new range. The guest does not watch an advert followed by a trick: the trick is about the brand, which is why the brand is what gets retold.

What are some brand activation examples with a magician?

A tour of Selux's French showrooms in 2022, starting in Paris, with close-up for the guests of each venue. Guhring's stand at Global Industrie 2025 at Eurexpo Lyon, worked in strolling close-up paired with a salesperson. A full day on the Renault Pro stand at the Lyon Motor Show followed by a private evening for their clients. A bespoke act written around Ouidoo for their evening at the Pavillon des Princes in Paris.

How do you measure an experiential activation?

Cross the figures with the stories. On the day: dwell time at the stand or the showroom, contacts recorded by badge scan or QR code, visitors handed over by name to the sales team. Afterwards: the leads that turn into meetings, the message delegates can repeat a month later, the photos and posts guests made on their own. The share of the budget spent on the live moment is the part that drives those numbers.

Can an activation be built under NDA before a launch?

Yes. Launch effects are prepared under NDA with the real product, visuals and figures, and rehearsed before the day. One rule applies everywhere: the magic never shows a feature the product does not have.

How much does a brand activation with a magician cost?

Fees are quoted on request and depend on the format (launch, stand, showroom tour, pop-up, client evening), the number of days, the customisation and the travel involved. One tailored proposal within one business day, with a single all-inclusive figure.
